Sometimes, the most meaningful invitations come unexpectedly.

Just two days before this event, we received a phone call from South Unionville’s (晚晴活動中心). A participant from our earlier event at 8 Chichester Place had kindly referred us.

The centre president reached out and asked, “Would you be able to come speak to our members about health — and offer health checks too?”

With no time to waste, we rearranged our schedule and said yes.

What we didn’t expect was that this would turn into a hybrid event — not just 30+ in-person members onsite, but also a large, engaged Zoom audience who joined live to learn with us.

Whether in the room or on the screen — they truly care about their health

This was a highly engaged group. The seniors asked thoughtful questions, took notes during the talk, and participated actively throughout the checkup portion.

Some Zoom attendees even messaged us afterwards, saying they hoped we would visit again — so they too could receive an in-person health screening.

It was clear: this community not only listens — they act.

And we were honoured to be part of that momentum.

“She wasn’t pushing a stroller for a baby — she was using it as a walker.”

There was one participant we’ll never forget.

She had come in using a foldable baby stroller as a makeshift walking aid.

“It’s just easier to fold and bring on public transit,” she explained casually.

But after talking with her, we found out she had already experienced multiple falls.

When we completed her health check, it became clear: her lower limb muscle mass was severely low, and she had no idea it was contributing to her instability.

We immediately expressed our concern and strongly advised her to use a proper walking frame.

We even made a light-hearted joke to help it land gently:

“Next time we see you, if you’re still using the baby stroller… we’re confiscating it!”

She laughed, but we could see she understood. That moment — kind, clear, and respectful — was what WOXY stands for.

More than a checkup — it’s about how you move through life

At WOXY, we don’t just run measurements and print reports.

We ask:

  • How do you walk to the bus stop?

  • Are you struggling to carry groceries?

  • Has anyone ever explained what those aches mean?

Because that’s where health begins — in the small, lived moments that often go unspoken in medical offices.

We take pride in being the ones who listen, explain, and make each person feel truly seen.

Thank you — for welcoming us so openly

We’re deeply grateful to the 晚晴活動中心 for organizing this event so quickly, and to the community member who referred us.

This event reminded us that trust spreads from person to person — not just through advertising, but through care that people feel and remember.

We hope to meet those friendly Zoom faces in person soon.

And when we do, we’ll help them understand their body a little more clearly — and walk forward a little more confidently.
